Lyrica is the ultimate lyrics app. It makes the searching and adding of lyrics to songs from your iTunes library as fast, simple and easy as possible!
The app automatically searches and displayes the right lyrics of the currently playing song. To make sure that Lyrica finds the appropriate lyrics, we added seven databases, the app searches through. With Lyrica 2 will also improved the overall search engine, so nearly every lyrics will be found.
You can also select an iTunes playlist and the app will download all the lyrics and add them to the songs from the playlist.
But there is one more feature: Even if you only remember a small text passage of a song, Lyrica will find the song.
With Lyrica 2 we introducing a complete new user interface that lets you enjoy using the app.
Here is a overview of the 3 main functions of Lyrica:
- It shows and adds the lyrics of the currently playing song
- It adds all lyrics to songs from a selected iTunes playlist
- It lets you search for lyrics you can only remember a small text passage
We will continuously add new features to Lyrica, because we love our users and of course our app.

Amazing application. Well worth the price. Thanks for creating it.
I would like to suggest a future enhancement. I would like to be able to export and/or print the lyrics. My wife is a sign language interpreter, and occasionally interprets concerts. In preparation I compile the artist’s music, and lyrics. Your app will save me time; but it would be even better if I could print the lyrics to put in a notebook for my wife.
Thanks again!!!!
I added this feature in 2.1 ;)
Florian, I have a couple of songs that were not recognized; but when I typed some lyrics to search, the song was found. It would be nice if I could associate the found lyrics with the song.
Thanks
Maybe the songtitle or the artist is not correctly given. Please check this, as Lyrica searches lyrics basis on the songtitle and artist (although the app is very tolerant with mistakes) – The search function uses an other algorithm to find songs and is independent of the songs, you have in your iTunes library. To display a button (or something else) wouldn’t make much sense. I will look into a solution. Thanks for the feature request!
Hello.
In the requirements it says Mac OS X 10.6 or later.
What will happen if I install it in Mac OS 10.5.8?
Thanks. Soul
you can’t run the current version of Lyrica on Mac OS 10.5, but I will soon release a 10.5 version ;)
hi, couple things: it keeps on crashing after the recent upgrade…. pls get it fixed! secondly, in the situations where you say you do not have the right to display all of the lyrcis, you might what to fix the html text inside. other than that, good app!
I apologize for the crashes and bug.
I am fully aware of the bug and fixed it already in 2.0. We already submitted the update and it should be soon available (Apple needs to approve it). It would be also nice if you could not write any negative comments one the Mac App Store Lyrica app page, because every negative feedback causes lower sales.
Also in the next update there will be no situation where we say, that we don’t have the lyrics ;)
Thanks and sorry!
My apologies…you JUST answered my question about lyrics that couldn’t be found. :)
One last question…how do you save lyrics to a song and find them later? Is there a place in iTunes that I’m just not seeing?
:) Yes, simply right click (or ctrl+click) on a song in iTunes and select lyrics. There is the lyrics ;)
I hate to be one of those people who doesn’t get it…but I tagged the lyrics I found in the app, then went back to the song in iTunes and right clicked…only options I see are “like”, “post”, “show artist profile” etc. Please tell me what I’m missing?
Also, don’t see an “Add Lyrics” button in my app…could be why I cant add lyrics???
Ok…I saw “add lyrics” button after re-starting app and searching a new song, but still can’t find lyrics in iTunes once I’ve added. Sorry to be a bother, just reeeally want this to work so I can recommend it to others.
The comments on the Mac App Store are made for that reason.
Let the people know if an app works fine, before they spend their money for it.
If you work hard on your app and make it work perfect, sales will come along!
You are right, but I fixed the problem a long time ago and Apple needs so long (1-2 weeks) to approve a bugfix update. In this 1-2 weeks many negative critics will be written and after the update is out, it is nearly impossible to get the same sales again (even if I fixed the problem already). Also many negative critic writers don’t update there reviews…
You should make another app like this, but instead of adding lyrics also add chords on top of each verse. That would be great!
Nice idea ;) I will look into the possibilities.
I like that I can write a few words and the lyrics to a song will pop up in the search feature. Usually I do a search when the lyrics are not found by Lyrica. It would be nice if once I found the lyrics to a song that I could paste to or add them to the song’s lyric section. Currently I have to copy the lyrics from the search feature and can only paste them by the use of the tool bar Edit button instead of pasting it from the lyrica search box. Other than that I love lyrica! Keep up the great work. Will gladly pay for more features.
Tony
You can edit lyrics directly in Lyrica 2.1, so you don’t need to copy the lyrics and paste them into iTunes. I finished the update 2.1 already and I’m just waiting until Apple approved 2.0.
First off this is a great app! Can you guys update the logic when searching for lyrics by song title to ignore all the words in a song title from the word “featuring”? Most songs that have guest artists list the featuring artists in the song title after the word “featuring” and that seems to confuse the search engine. The workaround now is for me to cut out the “featuring” and all the words after it in the song title.
For example, a song by Eminem “No Love featuring Lil Wayne” will return no lyrics but if you remove the featuring Lil Wayne then it returns the right lyrics.
I will add this feature soon ;)
Thanks for the feature request!
Flaco, realmente sos un capo! Muchas gracias por tu creación!
Boy, you are the man! Thanks for the great app!
Just as a matter of curiosity… Once upon a time I used to search for some strange lyrics at http://paroles.abazada.com/ (I do listen to really strange music) so I thought you could test the site for yourself to see if it can be useful or not, speedy or slow, etc. Just a little feedback.
I will come back as soon as I get used to the app, to give more feedback. Once again, I see a great future for a young talent like you!
Hey guys,
great app, but I really don’t like the redesign, can you please make an option to switch back to the old dark design?
There will be soon an option to switch to the transparent mode again.
great!
Great app that just got better…thanks.
Will you be able to parse the lyrics before you paste them to get rid of things like this:
“[ Joan Of Arc Lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com ]”
and
“[ From: http://www.metrolyrics.com/the-end-of-everything-i-loved-lyrics-daphne-loves-derby.html ]”
Thanks!
Sorry guys but I am disappointed with version 2.0. It loose the “special” touch of look, now is like a Windows app…
Why now to change the size of the font I must go to preferences?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿? this is a step back.
I am so angry!
Hello,
Your app is Just GREATTT!!!!
I just bought it everything works perfect!
Really Recommend it!
I just would like to make some suggestions:
-add on option to make the app run on the menu bar (where is the clock, airport, bluetooth etc)
-add an option to the app stays always in front of the other windows
I would appreciate if you could email me or post on the blog, what do you think about this
Keep the great job!
Regards
Thanks for the nice words! :) I added the second feature in the newest update. The first feature request will be added to one of the next updates.
Great app, man !
This is by far the best lyrics application I found on Mac and God knows I searched for one during years :)
Could you please add a list of all songs that were lyrics-tagged and all the songs that were not found so we can know which one are missing and add them manually ?
Another interesting feature would be the possibility to know to recognize the songs that have been tagged in iTunes and those which don’t have their lyrics yet in iTunes. For example, your app could put the word “lyrica” in the ‘comments’ section of the songs that have been successfully tagged, and you could choose to scan only the songs that don’t have this comment.
And I could make an intelligent playlist in iTunes that contains all the lyrics-less songs.
And finally, I’m having problems with the textfield in the manual search section which doesn’t allow text. So I cannot use this feature, but I don’t care, Google actually does the same job.
Thank you again for you very good work. I’ll look to see others apps from you on the app store.
I’m 17 too and wish I could make cool apps like yours in Cocoa too. Programming for the iPhone, then the iPad has been a dream since these devices came out, but I can’t manage to understand the structure of Obj-C, and my studies are taking a huge part of my time.
I’m asking myself : As your app seems to be a success on the french App Store, are the benefits worth the effort ? Does the Mac App Store appear to be a good economical place for little developers (not in talent, I mean) like you ?
Because I seriously consider to start over trying to code on Xcode if it’s really worthy.
Currently, I’m working on Real Studio which seemed the best cross-platform tool (Mac-Linux-Windows) to program on, but Xcode seems to grow in proportion, with iOS and now Mac OS, and the AppStore.
I can’t wait for your answer.
Good evening.
PiR
Hi, thanks for the feature request. I added all the features in the newest 2.1 update. I will also answer you soon on your questions regarding programming.
Hey, I have a lot of fairly obscure underground christian bands and lyrica keeps finding other artists with songs based on the artist’s name or album. I have a whole Album that it gave the same lyrics to and they were all wrong. It is working great for anything that gets radio play, but it’s understandably having a hard time with the locals. I can’t wait till the update when you can manually add lyrics, because at the moment its messing everything up.
I will add christian lyrics in the next update. Thanks for the request!
Thanks Florian,
Great app, can’t wait for the 2.1 update. i recently purchased the 2.0.0 (168) version. Although it doesn’t seem to be able to manage my whole music collection at once (it is rather large). I have been using the playlists function to slowly update my collection with lyrics. When you click on the playlist it displays xxx songs in the right hand corner (which is great). However once you click ‘Tag Songs’ it disappears. Some of my playlists take a long time to update and even though the lyrics found and could not be found are updated, it would be nice to have the total to compare the progress against. I know the progress bar is there but I have found sometimes within a few songs of the end it just seems to stop, although the app hasn’t frozen as I can click the stop button and skip to the next playlist.
Once again, thanks for the great app and I hope Apple approves the update soon as I am very keen to try some of the new features.
:)
Thanks for the feature request :) I will add the feature in the next update! Also notice, Lyrica 2.1 is out!
I bouight “Lyrica” v1. How do I update to v2? Do I have to pay again?
No, it is a free update! :) Just open the App Store and click on “Updates”.
Hey, I’m in Canada and bought the v1.0 version of Lyrica. Links to the v2 of the app don’t work and I don’t see it in the app store. What’s up? Did you limit v2 to certain countries?
Hello Florian,
great app and for that price an absolute steal. I like the app, but miss some features that I as a collector would like to see.
-would be great to be able to search for lyrics for albums and artist in addition to playlists
-it would be great to have a list/interface that shows which songs are missing lyrics and which ones have lyrics
-it also would be a great idea to be able to give feedback if the found lyrics are wrong and you could at least delete them.
I guess me and many others would be willing to pay a higher price if features like this would be available.
Danke
Michael
Hi Michael,
I added the second and third feature request in the new 2.1 Lyrica update. The first feature will be available in the next update ;)
Just to be clear: can this app crawl my iTunes library and add the lyrics to the metadata of the songs (so they sync to my iPhone, for example)?
Yes, the app can tag all songs from your iTunes library (automatically) with lyrics. The lyrics will appear on the iPhone after the next sync.
Hi Florian
I haven’t bought the app yet, because I was wondering to know if you have the option to save the Lyrinc on the song itself.
I don’t know if you have seen or used LyricMaster o MLLyrics, those are plug ins on Songbird, where you have the option to save the lyric on the song
Regards
Yes, it is one of the main functions of Lyrica to save lyrics on the song itself ;)
Thanks for your quick answer
I’ve bought the app already, and I’m just testing it
Thanks and good Luck
Hey Florian,
Thanks again for everything. I’m the french guy, last time I asked you about the full screen and you told me that it was going to be released in 2.1.
Well I have 2.1 and I’m still unable to have multiples columns in full screen. So I wondered if it was because I didn’t know how to do it or if it was because I hadn’t made myself clear about the two columns thing on full screen ?
Anyway, I can’t thank you enough :D
Oh then I understood you wrong. Could you please explain better what you mean with two columns? Thanks!
Ok,
Well what I would like when I am in the full screen mode, is to be able not to scroll down, but having the whole text on my screen. Mine is 1440*900 so for long songs I have to.
What I meant with two columns is having all the lyrics in the full screen mode without having to scroll down so probably having the lyrics displayed on two “columns”, first part of the text at left and the other part at right.
I hope I’m clear enough :/
Regards.
